Coastal Ambassador Program

Restore the Shore

In 2018, Clayoquot Wilderness Resort launched the Coastal Ambassador Program, in partnership with Clayoquot Cleanup to assist with their ongoing marine rehabilitation efforts in Clayoquot Sound. Ocean plastics and other marine debris are washing ashore with every tide and have damaged wildlife habitat throughout the region.

Guests have the opportunity to travel to remote islands within Clayoquot Sound via boat or helicopter to participate in hands-on rehabilitation efforts with the aim of preserving important areas for breeding, nesting, and foraging for the variety of species that call Clayoquot Sound home, including whales, sea lions, sea otters, porpoises, seals and a variety of seabirds and shorebirds.

An interactive multimedia display housed in one of the resort’s signature canvas tents is available for guests to explore and learn more about the program and the wildlife under threat. Guests can also “adopt a shoreline” to support the movement into the future.
