Summer 2014 Newsletter

It has been an extraordinary summer here at Clayoquot Wilderness Resort. We reached record highs in temperatures across Vancouver Island and with our guest numbers. We would like to extend a thank you to each and every guest that joined us this summer, you all made it extra special!

Our continued heli-hiking experience was as big of a hit this year as it was last. So much so that there were times that all guests would be high above us on a mountain and it would be so quiet here in camp! We are in love with this activity as much as you all are!

New for 2014

With the added addition of our “Over the Top” experience, guests are now able to have an overnight adventure atop the mountain at our Sky Penthouse Suite. Equipped with personal guide, chef and all the creature comforts down at the Outpost Camp; guests hike and swim during the day and dine under the stars at night. This new adventure is truly something to write home about!

John always has his thinking cap on so who knows where we will put the next camp...stay tuned!

This year also saw the start of a brand of luxury travel here in Canada known as the Magnificent 7 Luxury Lodges of Canada. Founding partners include; Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, Siwash Lake Ranch, Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, Bella Coola Heli Sports, Pacific Yellowfin Experiences, Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort and Chruchill Wild. We are very proud to be apart of this extraordinary collection of wilderness properties in Canada and hope to welcome some amazing multiple destination itineraries for our upcoming 2015 season. The Old Dogs Club

For those of you that are animal lovers, this is a little bit of sad news for the season and that is the passing of Ketza. We know that many of you went on a horseback ride with Owen’s sweet girl and we wanted to let you know that she has passed over the rainbow and will be forever remembered in our hearts. She was a sweet girl and her puppy Ranger is with us still so we will always have a little bit of Ketza running around.

Owen found Ketza at the Vancouver Island Dog Rescue, an amazing organization here on the island that helps place animals in their forever homes that have been abandoned all across Canada. In fact, Ketza came all the way from Saskatchewan!
